DESCRIPTION:Kanya Girl Child Welfare\, in association with Fortis Hospital and Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology\, organised a Free Medical Check-Up Camp on 13th May\, Friday from 10am-2pm at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology. \nThrough this camp\, Kanya (Welfare Organisation) strived to put emphasis on the after-effects of COVID\, and how keeping up with health\, especially amongst the youth\, has taken the backseat. Apart from the obvious mental and neurological complications plaguing any recovering patient\, some long-term symptoms include chronic body ache\, cough\, difficulty breathing and fatigue\, long after the virus has left the body. \n“As the world gets acquainted with the new-normal and the youth settles into their daily hustle\, we observe that the problems faced during and after recovery from COVID are nearly not talked about enough.” shares Mrs. Nishi Kapoor\, Founder of the Tricity-based NGO. \nKeeping that in mind\, the Free Medical Check-Up Camp was designed for an overall health check-up\, wherein the Medical team comprised of 8 members\, including a Gynecologist\, a General Physician and a Dietician. Free OPD Consultation was provided alongwith BP\, Blood Sugar & ECG Tests. \nAround 100-150 students participated and COVID Prevention Guidelines were all complied with as everyone was urged to maintain social distancing\, wear a mask at all times and use the hand sanitizer available at a few points at the venue. \nThe event concluded with Certificates of Participation being awarded to the Medical Team and a Special Thanks being extended to Fortis Hospital\, Mohali. At the end\, a Token of Appreciation was presented to Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology on behalf of Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organisation in acknowledgement of yet another successful collaboration.

DESCRIPTION:Sisterhood\, Stories and Celebrations. If one were asked to encapsulate Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organisation’s event in celebration of International Women’s Day in three words\, this is how one would describe it. However\, the stories of the strong women who appeared as the Guest Speakers weren’t always so smooth. The journey was rocky and unpredictable\, and even though their backgrounds were all different\, one factor remained common: these women and their stories looked to a bright future\, full of hope for all womankind. \nThe Tricity-based NGO organised Women’s Day Celebration\, a commemoration of Women who made history on 5th March\, 2022 at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology\, Phase 2\, Mohali\, at 11am. \nThrough well-planned and comprehensive projects\, Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organization\, Kapsons’ Social Responsibility Initiative\, has been committed to stand and work for the girl child’s overall empowerment\, be that in Education\, Health & Nutrition or Safety\, and will complete 18 successful years this Women’s Day. \nThe whole day was planned keeping Kanya’s mission in mind\, to promote Women Empowerment through four women who embody strength and success. The Panel of Guest Speakers include: \nMs. Priya LakhanPal: Actress\, Winner of Mrs. Ludhiana and Mrs. Punjab \nMs. Simranjeet Kaur Gill: Lawyer at Punjab and Haryana High Court\, Chandigarh and Founder at Fight For Right Punjab: The Voice of Unheard Victims \nMs. Kirti Gill: Journalist\, Thought Leader\, Survivor \nMs. Mandeep Kaur Sandhu: Journalist \nIntriguing questions were asked by the audience which were answered by the panel of guests. The event also included a Workshop focusing on Physical and Mental Health of Women\, which was followed by the launch of Kanya’s Website and Donation Portal. \nThrough the event\, the NGO hoped to spread the spirit of girl power and expand the team’s group of volunteers to get behind the vision of Kanya.
