SUMMARY:Free Dental Check-Up
DESCRIPTION:On the merry occasion of Christmas\, Tricity-based NGO\, Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organisation organised a Free Dental Check-up and Awareness Camp in association with Sukhmani Dental College and Hospital at Shaheed Udham Singh Colony\, Phase 7\, Mohali. \nThe camp was open to all and mainly aimed to target the population of Shaheed Udham Singh Colony. The Nursing Staff consisted of 12 nurses accompanied by Professor and HOD of Public Health Dentistry\, Dr. Ramandeep Kaur Sohi of Sukhmani Dental College and Hospital\, Derabassi.  \nThe participants were given a free-of-cost dental check-up and diagnosis\, followed by the issuance of an OPD Card to each. The group was then escorted to a Dental Health Awareness Workshop focusing on topics of dental hygiene and wellbeing. \nMrs. Nishi Kapoor\, Director of Kanya Welfare Organisation shared\, “It’s a fact that oral health and hygiene is often overlooked by most of us. Moreover\, the gap in the resources available to the urban and rural population of India makes it imperative to acknowledge oral diseases among other issues head-on. For Kanya (Welfare Organization)\, the motive behind this camp was to spread awareness and make dental care accessible to all.” \nCOVID Prevention Guidelines were all complied with as everyone was urged to maintain social distancing\, wear a mask at all times and use the hand sanitizer available at few points at the venue. Dental kits were also distributed to everyone coming in for a check-up to encourage healthy dental habits. \nThe event concluded with Certificates of Participation being awarded to the participating Nursing Staff and a Special Thanks was also extended to Chairman Kanwaljit Singh\, Principal Dr. Sachin Passi and Director Damanjit Singh. At the end\, a Token of Appreciation was presented to Sukhmani Dental College and Hospital on behalf of Kanya Girl Child Welfare Organisation in acknowledgement of the successful collaboration.
